Welcome to the official website for the
Disabled Riders of America
|
 |
|
This site was created to share our passion for riding motorcycles and to help other disabled people experience that passion, perhaps for the first time. We want to build an internet "clubhouse" so to speak, where members can share their ideas, thoughts, problems, experiences in regard to motorcycle riding, with others in similar situations.
...OUR MISSION STATEMENT...
| |
To pursue and protect the interests of disabled motorcyclists; to develop a better awareness of disabled rider issues, by both disabled and
non-disabled riders alike. To provide assistance where possible to disabled riders and to create better informed and more enthusiastic relations
between the general public, the media and motorcyclists. To organize and hold events and encourage participation of both disabled and non-disabled
riders. To promote discussion of matters pertaining to motorcycling among members and support for and within the disabled rider community.
We want to ride along with and participate in biker rallies and events. We want to show the world that our spirit is undaunted. We want to show our ingenuity, creativity and perserverance. We want to share our stories of overcoming what others may see as our limitations but that we see more as challenges to be the bikers we are in our hearts. We want to everyone with the dream of feeling the wind in their face and the sun on their back, the opportunity to ride free and happy.
Hot Wheels, as my girlfriend, Robin, is known in our motorcycle club and I, Twinkle Toes, AKA Vinny, are co-founders of this website (internet clubhouse). On this site we have posted links to resources for disabled riders that we have found, as well as my own creation - a wheelchair carrier! I hope to have patented soon and available for others to order who may be looking for a way to carry a wheelchair with them on their bike. We hope these will aid you on your own quest to Live to Ride and Ride to Live. We also hope to be adding more photos of our trips and some short stories of our own.
We encourage you to stop in, look around, see what we have to offer and then join us. Send in your photos and/or stories as well, which we will post to share with others. We also
have a member message board for you all to voice your concerns, share your experiences, and talk about whatever you like. Our goal is to foster a comraderie among disabled riders and make it easier for
those with disabilities to ride free all across America and show the world that we are The Undaunted.
Are you with us?
